Michelob Dry garners international award

After being honored by marketing and grocery experts as one of the best new American products in 1989, Michelob Dry has now been recognized in the international marketplace as well. At the recent semi-annual International Food Products Exhibition, the brew was selected the best new product in the alcohol beverage category, marking the first time that a U.S. beer has been honored.

Meeting in Paris, an international panel of judges, in conjunction with SIAL (Salon International De L'Alimentation), selected winners in seven categories.

"The Sial D'Or represents one of the food industry's greatest honors," said Jack MacDonough, vice president/brand management, Anheuser-Busch. "We're extremely pleased that the organization agrees with the views of the American consumer. In one the one year that consumers have had the opportunity to taste Michelob Dry, the product has become one of the top brands in the rapidly growing U.S. dry beer category."

Sial D'Or awards will be presented to the organization at an awards ceremony in Paris.

Michelob Dry was chosen from among 17 competing international entries in the alcohol beverage category, MacDonough added.
