Michael A. Patmas, MS, MD, MMM, CPE, FACP, FACPE.
Michael A. Patmas, MS, MD, MMM, CPE, FACP, FACPE, has been
appointed chief medical officer of Woodland Healthcare in Woodland,
California. Woodland Healthcare is an integrated health care organization comprising Woodland Memorial Hospital and the Woodland
Clinic Medical Group. Patmas will serve as CMO of both organizations. He
will lead further integration strategies, provide medical direction for
the group, lead physician recruitment and retention, oversee the medical
staff office and lead quality assurance and improvement activities.
Patmas has previously served in a number of senior leadership roles. As
Idaho regional medical director for Correctional Medical Services, he
won regional medical director of the year and spearheaded initiatives
that resulted in the Idaho winning region of the year for clinical
quality. As CEO of St. Alphonsus Medical Group in Idaho, Patmas oversaw
the clinical, financial and administrative functions of the
multispecialty group. He doubled in system referrals, improved physician
satisfaction, reduced turnover, recruited providers and increased
hospital spinoff contribution margin. As vice president and medical
director of Clear Choice Health Plans, he led efforts that resulted in
the plan being ranked number one in the region and among the top 100
health plans in the nation. He developed an innovative
pay-for-performance program and led quality improvement initiatives. As
medical director of the Central Oregon IPA, Patmas led creation of
Central Oregon Electronic Medical Records, serving as the
organization's founding board chair. As medical director of the
Providence Ambulatory Care and Education Center, Patmas led a financial
turnaround and quality improvement initiatives resulting in the clinic
winning the award for clinical quality improvement from the Portland
IPA. As NJ regional medical director for Clinical Care Associates, he
led performance improvement and physician recruitment activities. Dr.
Patmas, an internal medicine physician, has remained clinically active
and continues to see patients and teach. Patmas is a long-time member of
ACPE and served on the Board of Directors. He obtained his MMM degree
from the University Of Southern California Marshall School Of Business.
