MichCon to Debut Online Pipeline Web Site and New MeterMan 'Super Hero' on November 25

DETROIT, Nov. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- MichCon's newest pipeline will be dramatically different than any the company has used before. This one will deliver information instead of natural gas.

The MichCon Online Pipeline (http://www.michcon.com) is a new World Wide Web site set for a November 25 debut. It will be one of the most informationally-rich web sites of its kind providing a wide range of natural gas-related information for businesses and residents. Information in the Online Pipeline includes important safety tips and energy conservation methods, areas of interest to MichCon customers and non-customers alike as winter approaches.

As part of the Online Pipeline launch, MichCon is also introducing MeterMan, a cartoon-based "super hero" to help younger web surfers learn more about natural gas. MeterMan will actually be animated within his own "MeterMan School" section, covering topics like the origin and uses of natural gas.

"The launch of MichCon's Online Pipeline is an important reflection of the company's vision for the future," explained Steve Ewing, Chief Executive Officer of MichCon. "As companies like ours face a deregulated future, it is vital we establish a true dialogue with our customers to better understand their needs so we can provide the products and services they want and need."

Visitors to the Online Pipeline will find a highly navigational, user friendly website structure. They can access information on:
 * Home Products and Services
 * Natural Gas Appliances and the Ideal Energy Home
 * MichCon's Ideal Energy Dealers
 * Business Products and Services
 * How MichCon Means More

The Online Pipeline will also include a link which explains how to use the site, and will link in the future to MCN, MichCon's parent company.

"Unfortunately, many people don't think of their energy companies unless their service is disrupted," Ewing noted. "But through Online Pipeline and MeterMan, we hope to greatly increase the awareness of MichCon's tremendous commitment of service to our customers. With the new web site, people can learn more about natural gas products for their homes and their businesses right on line at any time," said Ewing.

"If you need a few tips on how to properly choose a new water heater, it's there. So is information about service installation, cogeneration, construction heat, and natural gas powered vehicles."

The Online Pipeline was created for MichCon by the Detroit office of Wunderman Cato Johnson (WCJ), the marketing subsidiary of Young & Rubicam, MichCon's advertising agency of record.

MichCon, a wholly-owned subsidiary of MCN Corporation (NYSE: MCN), is a natural gas distribution and transmission company serving 1.2 million customers in more than 500 communities throughout Michigan.
