Rubicon Society: Greg McNeill, Republican candidate for Oregon Legislative District 8, will discuss his campaign at noon Thursday at the Pearl Street Ice Cream Parlour & Restaurant, 1313 Pearl St. Visitors welcome. Lunch optional.

Pacifica Forum: The documentary "The Nashville Sit-ins, 1960," in commemoration of the 34th anniversary of the assassination of Martin Luther King, will be presented at 11:45 a.m. Friday at the Wesley Center, 1236 Kincaid St., Eugene. Sponsored by the Fellowship of Reconciliation, the Eugene Friends Meeting and the Wesley Foundation.

Homeless veteran outreach: Veterans can learn about benefits they are entitled to, and how to apply to receive those benefits, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday at the VA Bertelsen Clinic, 95 N. Bertelsen Road. Surplus supplies from the Department of Defense will be distributed, and refreshments will be served.

Income tax assistance: The state Department of Revenue will offer assistance from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday and again April 13. Taxpayers can ask questions and obtain forms at 1600 Valley River Drive, Suite 310. For more tax information, contact the department's toll-free tax help line at (800) 356-4222.
