Methane Nanosensor Expertise Indigenized.

Summary: TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian researchers from Shiraz University and Iranian Central Oil Fields Company (ICOFC) succeeded in manufacturing methane nanosensors and their related system after two years of intensive work.

ICOFC Managing Director Mehdi Fakour made the announcement, and added the indigenized version of the device could be connected not only to different brands of sensors and recognize them but at the same is able to measure density of methane gas in the environment and alarm it.

The system consists of two parts, the first one includes a number of gas sensors, for example methane sensors, and the second part includes things like gathering information, controller circuits and data processors in order to find possible gas linkage and alarming it.

Fakour said the breakthrough has cut dependency on foreign manufacturers of the system adding the product can be used as a basis for indigenizing similar systems for detecting other gases like H2S.

According to Fakour, at present, all the existing systems in the country are imported ones and no methane sensor has been yet produced in the country.

He concluded that the smart system manufactured by ICOFC and Shiraz University experts was equipped with four methane sensors and tested successfully in the presence of the company's experts in Site-2 in Nar Operational District.
