Merit Studios sets course for maximum product penetration, sales team expanded.

DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 10, 1995--Merit Studios, Inc. (NASDAQ: MRITP) today announced the appointments of Dennis Scala as vice president of sales and Patrick Griffith as regional sales manager.

Scala, who previously was Merit's director of sales, has distinguished his tenure at the company by selling and servicing major accounts, including Merisel, Ingram Micro, the Handleman Company and Slash Corporation. In his new position, he will be responsible for Merit's sales efforts in the North American market.

Prior to joining Merit Studios, Scala was a sales and marketing executive with Capstone Software, Family Care Software and Computer Easy. A 1983 graduate of Boston College, Scala has over eight years of consumer software experience.

Joining Scala as a new member of Merit's sales team is Patrick Griffith. A 1993 graduate of Texas A&M University with a degree in Electrical Engineering, he was previously involved in product development and support at Merit. Griffith will be responsible for selling and servicing midwest and east coast distributors and retailers.

Merit has also added two outside sales firms to handle select markets for the company. To cover burgeoning west coast markets (California, Washington and Oregon), Merit has designated Micro Tech Marketing Services, Inc. based in Los Angeles, Calif.

Micro Tech is experienced in dealing with major west coast distributors including Ingram Micro and Merisel, and dominant retailers such as Egghead Discount Software. The firm specializes in selling computer software, hardware and consumer electronics as well as video games and toys. Micro Tech uses custom-tailored marketing programs, including local advertising and direct mail, to "sell out" products.

Merit also has retained Eichhorn Kersting Associates to represent the firm in Minnesota. Home to several major retailers and distributors, including Best Buy and Software Etc., this state is key to Merit's maximum product penetration strategy.

Eichhorn Kersting Associates represents several major computer software and hardware lines. They specialize in strategic product distribution, maximizing a product's potential within a given merchant's overall mix.

Merit Studios President Bill Graham said, "With the expansion of the Merit sales team and the addition of Micro Tech Marketing Services and Eichhorn Kersting Associates, we'll ensure our products reach the growing number of outlets now merchandising computer entertainment software. This maximum product penetration strategy will dramatically increase sales in 1995."
