Merfin expanding.

Specialty paper products manufacturer, Merfin Hygienic Products, Vancouver, B.C., Canada, has reached an agreement with Danish equipment supplier Niro Separation A/S to purchase a second air laid machine. Priced at $21 million, the new machine will produce a wide range of latex and thermal bonded fabrics and have an annual capacity in excess of 20,000 metric tons. Production is scheduled to begin in the first half of 1995, adding to Merfin's current capacity of 15,000 metric tons per year. Through its development of innovative fabrics, Merfin has become one of the leading manufacturers of air laid products for international personal hygiene markets since acquiring its first machine in 1989.
