Mentor Graphics Calibre nmDRC Delivers Superior Productivity on the Intel Dual-Core Xeon 5160 Processor.

WILSONVILLE, Ore. -- Mentor Graphics Corporation (Nasdaq: MENT) today announced that Calibre(R) nmDRC, Mentor's next generation physical verification tool, is fully supported and qualified on the new Intel(R) Dual-Core Xeon(R) 5160 Processor. Calibre nmDRC with Hyperscaling demonstrated excellent run-time performance during benchmark tests. Hyperscaling provides the productivity designers need for nanometer era circuit (IC) designs.

Mentor Graphics has successfully conducted shared memory processor (SMP) productivity benchmarks evaluating the performance of Calibre nmDRC on the Intel Dual-Core Xeon 5160 processor. "Our benchmark plan was to evaluate SMP system performance of Calibre nmDRC against previous Calibre DRC(TM) versions on the Intel Dual-Core Xeon 5160 processor," said Michael White, Mentor Graphics senior product marketing manager for Calibre nmDRC. "Using Calibre nmDRC and the Intel Dual-Core Xeon 5160 processor, on an advanced 400 million transistor design, we were also able to demonstrate a 2.5x productivity improvement over single-core processors running our prior multi-thread Calibre DRC software."

Hyperscaling technology brings superior scalability and lightening fast run times for computationally intense applications. Hyperscaling offers advanced data processing options that provide the fastest single CPU and multi-CPU performance to verify blocks in seconds and full chips in hours. Hyperscaling extends the useful life of existing shared memory processor systems, and fully utilizes single and dual-core processor distributed rack systems. Hyperscaling improves productivity whether designers are working in 180nm or 45nm technology nodes.
