Mentally-ill man gets life for killing mother and sister; UK &WORLD.
A 27.YEAR.OLD man has been handed a life sentence after admitting killing his mother and sister.
Peter Fox pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of his 57-year-old mother Bernadette Fox and his 27-year-old sister Sarah Fox in Merseyside.
Detectives found the bodies of the two women at their separate homes in Bootle on April 17 last year.
An appeal was then launched to trace Fox who was arrested three days later by British Transport Police at Euston Station in London after he was spotted by a member of the public.
Post-mortem examinations found that Bernadette died as a result of asphyxiation, while Sarah died from multiple stab wounds. At Liverpool Crown Court, he was sentenced to life with a 12-year, seven-month tariff. A restriction under Section 45a of the Mental Health Act was also imposed on Fox, who suffers from paranoid schizophrenia.
He will be treated at Ashworth Hospital in Merseyside until he is deemed fit to be transferred to prison.
In a victim impact statement prepared on behalf of the family of the women they said their lives had been "ripped apart".
The statement read: "It is absolutely unbelievable that we all find ourselves in this horrendous situation. Never in a million years could any of us have foreseen such an awful act would happen in our family. Our lives have been ripped apart and we have lost two beautiful people at the hands of someone who should have protected them."
