Menon helps DPS emerge winners.

Abu Dhabi Devnath Menon cracked an unbeaten 51 off 45 balls to steer Delhi Private School (DPS), Sharjah to an emphatic victory over Westminster YTCA in the final of the Interface Gulf Cup held under the auspices of the Abu Dhabi Cricket Council at the Shaikh Zayed Cricket Stadium

Menon's innings contained six boundaries and guided DPS to a 62-run victory. Batting first, DPS piled up 132 for 3 with Menon top scoring with 51. He found a suitable partner in the form batsman Sparsh Hegde. They put on a 113 run partnership for the second wicket. Hedge hit 48 runs off 40 balls before he was caught by Jaithra Bhatia off the bowling of Hamza in the closing overs of the DPS innings.

Westminster was restricted to 70 for 6.

In the Under-12 final, Fedeem Western Cape (FWC) from South Africa defeated DPS Sharjah by 85 runs. FWC scored 137 for 1 with Wian van Zyl hitting an unbeaten 62 off 63 balls while Pieter Bacherds cracked an unbeaten on 57 off 49 deliveries.

DPS Sharjah were bowled out for 52 with Zyl taking two wickets along with Walied Smith, who also took two wickets.

Meanwhile, in the Al Dhaid Gold Cup 40 over tournament organised by Sharjah Cricket Council, Mohammad Shafiq slammed a superb century to guide Abu Dhabi Gymkhana a convincing five-wicket victory over ZAF Amazon in a high-scoring match.

In other matches, Emirates Islamic Bank, aided by a fine all-round performance from Naeem, defeated Darwish Bin Ahmad by 57 runs while Eurocon Alubond rode on a five-wicket by Nasir Aziz to beat Sharjah Club by five wickets.

Shafiq cracked a fluent 112 as Abu Dhabi Gymkhana overhauled ZAH Amazon's challenging total of 287 for nine in 33.3 overs. Owais (69) and Mairaz (61) were the other major scorers.

Earlier, ZAH Amazon had built their innings around Haroon (68), Ihasan (53) and Tariq (47). Asim and Nadeem were the most successful bowlers, claiming three wickets each.

Emirates Islamic Bank, powered by a solid 82 by Kashif, posted a huge 297 for nine against Bin Ahmad. Faizan Asif (58), Naeem Khan (57) and Asim Kaleem (41) also joined the party to add to the woes of a struggling Darwish attack.

Darwish in reply, were bowled out for 246 with Naeem, who was later named man of the match. Ramachandran top-scored with 44.

Eurocon Alubond held sway against Sharjah Club with a decent team effort.

Under 12 final (20 overs): FWC (South Africa) bt DPS Sharjah by 85 runs. FWC 137 for 1 (Wian van Zyl 62 not out, Pieter Bacherds 57 not out). DPS Sharjah 52 in 12.5 overs (Zohaib 14; Wian van Zyl 2 for 10, Walied Smith 2 for 11).
