U.S. Sens. Bob Menendez and Cory Booker, both Democrats, announced that the Metropolitan Family Health Network Inc. received $3,359,718 in federal funding from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to continue the essential health care services they provide to underserved communities in Hudson County.

Metropolitan Family Health Network provides comprehensive, high quality and affordable health care services including pediatric care, women's health care, behavioral health services and dental care.

"Residents in Jersey City, West New York and across Hudson County depend on the high-quality, affordable community-based primary and preventative care services offered at Metropolitan Family Health Network," Menendez said in a statement.

"Our federally qualified health centers provide critical services to underserved communities that need them most," said Booker. "These federal dollars allow for the Metropolitan Family Health Network to continue its missionand provide thehigh-quality healthcarethatall New Jerseyans deserve."

In New Jersey, 24 community health centers operate 135 sites, providing preventive and primary health care services to 537,960 residents.

Menendez visited Metropolitan Family Health Network last year when he announced $45 million in federal funding to support community health centers throughout the state.

"The federal funding Metropolitan Family Health Network (MFHN) receives enables us to increase the number of qualified health and dental care providers, and to enhance and initiate new programs that meet the needs of our community," said MFHN President and CEO Joan Dublin. "We are grateful to Senator Menendez and Senator Booker for their leadership and advocacy in helping us continue to make top quality, affordable health and dental care accessible to all of our community, particularly those who are uninsured or underinsured."

Earlier in the year, Menendez joined colleagues in introducing legislation to bolster Community Health Centers and expand access to vital health care services for hundreds of thousands of New Jerseyans.
