Menacing message charge.

A 28-year-old man has been charged in connection with a "threatening" message posted on the Facebook page of the Conservative MP for South Thanet, Craig Mackinlay.

Mark Verier, 28, of High Street, Ramsgate, Kent, has been charged with one count of sending offensive, indecent, obscene or menacing communications.

He has been bailed by Kent Police to appear at Margate Magistrates' Court on August 11.

The charge follows the posting of the message: "Another MP that needs..." followed by emojis of a gun and a knife on June 18.

The incident followed came a few days after the death of Labour MP Jo Cox who was shot and stabbed in Birstall, West Yorkshire.
