Memoir to be published by freed Guantanamo prisoner.
A memoir entitled Five Years of My Life: A Report from Guantanamo has been authored Murat Kurnaz, a German-born Turkish man who was detained at the US prison Guantanamo Bay.
The book, which is scheduled for publication on 23 April, details Kurnaz's time in the prison.
Kurnaz was detained in Pakistan in 2001 and was handed over to US authorities and held at Guantanamo as a terror suspect, according to The Associated Press. He was eventually freed in 2006, when he returned to Germany.
Kurnaz's publisher, Rowohlt, has said that he worked on the memoir with writer Helmut Kuhn.
