Membership doubles at leisure centre with new pool.
A COVENTRY sports and leisure centre has seen its membership double with the opening of its new swimming pool.
More than 650 people have joined Centre AT7 in Bell Green Road since the new 25-metre pool, which includes a splash pool and racing slides, opened in August 2014.
The swimming pool was installed as part of a PS7.5million improvement programme which also saw the creation of a new health suite, car park, office space and function rooms.
The centre, which is managed by Coventry Sports Foundation, has also seen a steep rise in the use of its fitness centre with more people taking part in the activity classes available.
Angela Barron, lifestyles health and fitness manager at Coventry Sports Foundation, said: "We are really pleased that the swimming pool has proved a major hit within the community and that it has also helped to attract more people to join as a Lifestyle health club member.
"It is a huge pull for families with young children particularly with the splash pool and racing slides, but we have also seen an increase in the number of adult and corporate members."
