Theresa M. Anselmo, MPH, BSDH, RDH, oral health program manager, San Luis Obispo County, Calif., has accepted an invitation to participate on the Pediatrics Measures Workgroup of the Dental Quality Alliance (DQA).
The mission of the DQA is to develop performance measures for oral health care. The organization's efforts to create measures for pediatric oral health care are now in the testing phase, and validated measures are expected later this year. DQA is convening the new workgroup to enhance the starter set with measures in other domains of health care. Broad topic areas to be addressed are achieving optimum oral health care in children and establishing a dental home.
"I am so pleased to have been nominated by ADHA to represent the dental hygienist's perspective on the Dental Quality Alliance's Pediatric Quality Measures workgroup," Anselmo said. "The development of performance measures as a means to improving oral health, patient care and safety is an important step in creating a system of care that fosters professional accountability, transparency and value in oral health care, and I am honored to be part of the process."
