MELISSA RIVARD WINS COUCH PIT SCHOLARSHIP. The 2004 Couch Pit University Scholarship recipient is Melissa Rivard of Western Michigan University (WMU). Rivard attended Delta College focusing on mathematics and science before transferring to WMU to enter the paper engineering program. She has held a co-op position with Kimberly-Clark in Neenah, Wisconsin. Rivard has also worked part time the WMU's TAPPI labs and in the coating pilot plant. Currently vice president of the TAPPI student organization at WMU, Rivard was selected by members of Couch Pit University, each of whom has 25 years or more experience in the pulp and paper manufacturing process. This year's award is made in memory of Omega Rogers, Jr.
