Meg Downey.

NCEW board member Meg Downey has been named executive editor of the Poughkeepsie Journal. She has been editorial page editor of the Hudson Valley, N.Y., paper since 1987.

Downey served as the Journal's Sunday editor and city editor before moving to editorial writing. She is a former assistant city editor at The Charlotte News in North Carolina.

She was a Pulitzer Prize finalist in 1996 and is the recipient of a National Headliner Award. Downey heads NCEW's Member Services Committee and was elected in September to a twoyear term on the board of directors.
