My Role at TEI
I supervise and dispatch five teams of two-person repair crews. About 40 percent of my time is spent in the field, mostly evaluating repair jobs in order to prepare estimates and schedule repairs, but also working with my crews when needed. Being on the repair side of the business, I'm on call 24/7. I have a lot of customer contact, usually with building superintendents, providing estimates, coordinating work plans, and keeping them in the loop on the status of repairs.
What I'd like Customers to Know
The Journeymen on my crews have combined experience of nearly 100 years repairing elevators in commercial and residential buildings in and around New York City. This experience serves TEI well when we have to re-pour a machine or re-groove a sheave--just two of the skills that are fast becoming lost arts in our trade. Part of my job at TEI is to make sure these skills are passed on to the next generation of Mechanics. That's why our Mechanics are among the best in the business, which is something every customer should know.
