Medina hailed for Jersey bio efforts.
Medina accepted the honor at the BCNJ and Pennsylvania Biotechnology Association Annual Conference Award Dinner this fall.
BCNJ is the voice of the biotechnology industry in New Jersey. The group promotes the development of the state's rapidly expanding biotechnology industry.
Through the promotional efforts and outreach assistance of BCNJ, its member companies and the state of New Jersey have received national recognition for creating a favorable environment for the industry's growth.
A former New Jersey State Commerce Secretary under the Whitman administration, Medina has been involved in creating policies and practices to develop the biotechnology and life sciences industries in the state for more than 10 years.
Since joining Cushman & Wakefield in 2002, Medina has taken a leading role in a number of key projects, organizations and related efforts.
He served as a member of Governor McGreevey's economic development transition team and is a Governor-appointed trustee on the board of Prosperity New Jersey.
He also acts as an advisor to the Biotechnology Council of New Jersey, the New Jersey Technology Council and the New Jersey Commerce and Economic Growth Commission, among others.
"The world is involved in a major transition from a manufacturing-based economy to a knowledge-based economy driven by Life Sciences and Information Technologies," Medina said.
"Within this context, New Jersey possesses an extremely high level of intellectual capital. These industries--especially biotechnology and related firms--represent a substantial part of our workforce and economy."
"It is critical that our state maintains and grows its competitive advantage in this arena."
New Jersey is first in scientists per capita, according to the New Jersey Commerce and Economic Growth Commission.
