Medievalia et humanistica; studies in medieval and Renaissance culture, new series; no.31

Six original and refereed articles anchor the 31st volume, variously titled Reenagagement with History and Reengaging History--medievalists can sometimes get carried away with differential translation. Their topics include Virgilian hauntings in Boccaccio's De casibus vivorum illustrium, love and fortune in The Knight's Tale, and atrocities and the executions of peasant rebel leaders in late medieval and early modern Europe. A review article looks at two new dictionaries of Old French, and bevy of review notices devote a few pages each to other new works. There is no index.
