Medialogic sells Medscape assets to WebMD.

MediaLogic/Medscape, Inc. has agree to sell the assets and operations of its Internet portals business, including the Medscape brand, to WebMD (Elmwood Park, NJ) for $10 million in cash. The acquired Internet portals include, designed for medical professionals, and, targeted to consumers.

MediaLogic (Hillsboro, OR) said it will continue to focus on the development and deployment of its Digital Health Record (DHR) applications and services, products that enable physicians to access patient information share data and communicate among practice members. However, MediaLogic does not produce a financial applications element, a service increasingly in demand by clinics, physicians' offices and healthcare delivery systems. Neither MediaLogic nor Medscape are profitable.

WebMD (New York) products include "Medical Manager, providing physician practice management software and related services, "WebMD Envoy," a provider of electronic data interchange services for healthcare providers and commercial health plans, and "WebMD Health," a provider of online information, research, and educational services for physicians and consumers.
