Measure light transmission of plastics & metalized films.

A new series of densitometers boasts enhanced optics specifically for measuring light transmission of metalized films and many types of plastics with high accuracy and repeatability. The TBX1000 Black and White transmission densitometers from Tobias Associates Inc., Ivyland, Pa., feature a wide measuring range that allows evaluation of many types of films, laminates, and substrates.

According to the company, there has been no accurate method for measuring transmission densities of metalized films before now. The TBX1000 series units measure densities of a wide range of opaque and transparent materials and can measure ISO Visual Diffuse Optical Density from 0.00D to as high as 6.60D. The TBX1500 unit also calculates positive and negative dot areas while the TBX2000 measures percent opacity and transmission. The data can be uploaded to spreadsheets via the USB port using the optional Data Capture program. The TBX1000C uses three Status A color filters. Optional filters can be installed for measuring densities of UV- and IR-sensitive materials.
