Measday, Stephen: Send Simon Savage.

** MEASDAY, Stephen Send Simon Savage Little Hare, 2010 283pp $16.99 pbk ISBN 9787921541339

If you want to be a temponaut (a time traveler) then join the Time Bureau if you are between eleven and fifteen years of age. This is what Simon must do if he is to find his father who has disappeared. Only young people have the genetic flexibility to survive the wear and tear on their bodies as they travel backwards and forward through time. The villains of this tale are gold pirates, who themselves are able to use time travel to their advantage. This is a fast paced adventure with a scifi twist. All is not what it seems, however, but a vast underground seedbank established in the 24th century ensuring world flora is safe from extinction draws the plot happily to its end even if the tale becomes a little didactic. In the mould of a number of other junior James Bond characters Simon Savage is sure to appeal to young readers of both sexes.
