Meals on wheels.

Retailers have a new competitor in the meal solutions area with the recent partnership of Food.com and Blockbuster Inc. Through its acquisition of Takeout Taxi, Food.com is positioning itself to deliver Blockbuster entertainment products along with restaurant meals ordered online from Food.com's 16,000 participating restaurants. According to Food.com officials, the company is also increasing its food-related content and transactions on its site, improving its accessibility through any Internet device and assembling the restaurant industry to provide business-to-business services. The deal with Takeout Taxi will enable Food.com to deliver to major markets throughout the United States, such as Atlanta, Chicago, Los Angeles and Washington, D.C. "Our partnership with Blockbuster will give a whole new meaning to the phrase 'dinner and a movie,'" says Richard Frank, chairman and CEO, Food.com, San Francisco, Calif.
