McKenna Long & Aldridge LLP Consolidates Offices in Downtown Los Angeles.

LOS ANGELES -- International law firm McKenna Long & Aldridge LLP (MLA) has signed a long term lease with Maguire Properties to occupy 62,418 square feet at One California Plaza in downtown Los Angeles. The deal is valued in excess of $30 million. The Class A+ space is located on two and a half floors at 300 South Grand Avenue. The new lease enables the law firm to consolidate its Los Angeles attorneys, who currently work out of two downtown locations, into a single location.

"This is superb space that will enhance collaboration between our practice groups and allow us to operate more efficiently and cost effectively for clients," said MLA Chairman Jeff Haidet. He noted that the new office occupies a fully built-out law firm space with existing improvements as well as space that will be refurbished. By moving from 771 square feet per attorney to 586 square feet per attorney, the firm is realizing a 31 percent increase in efficiency.

"Our Los Angeles office has the region's leading Government Contracts practice as well as a very strong Real Estate group, so it is ideally placed to help clients navigate the business opportunities and challenges associated with the stimulus package as well as potential public-private partnerships for infrastructure development," said Thomas Abbott, chair of MLA's Government Contracts practice. "Furthermore, our new office in the heart of the financial district is ideally located for both our domestic and international clients." In addition to real estate finance and development, and government contracts, MLA's attorneys and professionals in Los Angeles provide clients with service in commercial, employment and toxic tort matters, environmental compliance and white collar crime related issues. Clients include Fortune 500 companies, mid-size companies, major government contractors and non-profit organizations. In addition to civil business litigation and white collar criminal defense, the office has extensive experience in international dispute resolutions in the Middle East, Europe, Canada and Japan.

Whitley Collins, Darren Eades, Tom McDonald and Tony Morales of Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL), a leading financial and professional services firm specializing in real estate, represented McKenna Long & Aldridge in the deal. The firm will complete construction and move in later this year. Maguire Properties was represented in-house by Josh Wrobel.
