McInally wins race to boss Blue Toon.

EX-MORTON manager Jim McInally has beaten off a host of names to land the Peterhead gaffer's job.

Former St Mirren No.2 Iain Jenkins, ex-Arbroath boss John McGlashan and former Blue Toon ace Bobby Mann were all chasing the job with the big-spending Third Division outfit.

But McInally beat them in the race to replace John Sheran, who was axed two weeks ago after only one win this season.

Blue Toon chairman Rodger Morrison said: "Jim took Morton to the Division Two title and also managed East Stirlingshire from the bottom of Division Three to the play-offs two years on the trot.

"His football credentials are outstanding and he also brings a wide network of contacts and expertise which will be crucial."
