McFADDEN CASE PUT OFF AGAIN; Fans distraught at no-show.
FORMER Westlife star Brian McFadden will face speeding and careless driving charges next month, a court ruled yesterday.
But dozens of fans who gathered at Balbriggan District Court, Co Dublin, hoping for a glimpse of the pop singer were disappointed when he failed to show up.
Inside the courtroom his lawyer applied to have the case adjourned until October 13. Dubliner McFadden, 25, is accused of careless driving, breaking the then 70mph speed limit and driving without reasonable consideration.
The father of two was stopped by gardai on the M1 motorway in near Balbriggan, on September 23, 2002.
It is understood the case was adjourned because the troubled singer, who split from his wife Kerry Katona last year, is still suffering from a leg injury suffered in a soccer match.
His barrister Kieran Kelly made an application with gardai consent to Judge Cormac Dunne to adjourn the case.
Yesterday, 14 reporters, 11 photographers and three TV crews waited outside the courthouse.
The case was first adjourned in March 2004 because a female witness to the alleged offences was due to give birth to twins and McFadden was about to go on tour.
McFadden was then a member of Westlife but he left soon after to launch a solo career.
Last October, he labelled the court system "a joke" after the hearing was put back for a second time despite him travelling from London for the case.
Last month the Irish Daily Mirror revealed McFadden was quitting Ireland to set up home with lover Delta Goodrem in the US.
But he'll be back sooner than expected to appear before Judge Dunne next month.
