 STAFF VICE PRESIDENT-CORPORATE ETHICS AND OMBUDSMAN
 ST. LOUIS, March 17 /PRNewswire/ -- John A. Strickland has been named staff vice president-corporate ethics and ombudsman for McDonnell Douglas (NYSE: MD), effective April 20. He will take the place of H.S. "Bud" Coyle, staff director-Executive Council, who had been serving as ombudsman on an interim basis since February 1991.
 Strickland, 56, was group director of human resources for McDonnell Douglas Helicopter Co. in Mesa, Ariz., a position he has held since October 1989.
 In his new position, Strickland will chair the McDonnell Douglas Corporate Ethics Council, act as the principal corporate representative to the Defense Industry Initiative, and serve as a liaison among the component ombudsmen.
 Strickland brings 30 years of leadership experience in engineering and human resources to this position. Among the positions he has held have been staff vice president-human resources for McDonnell Douglas Corporate Office (1985-1989), director-personnel for McDonnell Aircraft (1982-1983), and director-personnel for the now defunct McDonnell Douglas Automation Co. (1979-1980).
 Strickland holds a bachelor's degree in business and industrial management from Southern Illinois University.
