McDONNELL DOUGLAS CLOSING VIRGINIA HEADQUARTERS OF McDONNELL DOUGLAS ELECTRONIC SYSTEMS CO. MCLEAN, Va., Aug. 27, /PRNewswire/ -- McDonnell Douglas (NYSE: MD) announced today it will close the McLean, Va. headquarters of the McDonnell Douglas Electronic Systems Co. effective Oct. 1, 1992. The closure is part of the overall restructuring of McDonnell Douglas' government aerospace components into two geographically aligned groups. As the electronic systems company is combined into the new streamlined organization, the headquarters function will no longer be needed. Actions are currently underway to close the headquarters and transfer existing functions into the newly established organization. Approximately 60 percent of the headquarters staff, who work in McLean and St. Louis, will be affected by the closing over the next few months.
