McDONNELL DOUGLAS AEROSPACE AWARDS $23 MILLION IN CONTRACTS TO SMALL AND DISADVANTAGED BUSINESSES NATIONWIDE

HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif., Feb. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- McDonnell Douglas Aerospace recently awarded $23 million in contracts to small and disadvantaged businesses (SBDs) nationwide to produce parts and services for McDonnell Douglas' portion of Space Station Freedom -- Work Package 2.
"We've placed a high priority on subcontracting to small and disadvantaged businesses, and are committed to increasing the number of these contracts awarded in 1993," said Raul Alvarado, McDonnell Douglas SDB senior staff specialist for the Space Station program.
A Minority Business Resource Advisory Team formed by McDonnell Douglas Aerospace in 1992 has compiled a data base of more than 700 SBDs available to all McDonnell Douglas Space Station procuring agents. The data base can be used to match appropriate suppliers with procurement needs and will be continually increased and updated.
To increase awareness of business opportunities McDonnell Douglas Aerospace recently conducted a small and disadvantaged business seminar to inform national minority and women business organizations about subcontracting opportunities on McDonnell Douglas' portion of the Space Station Freedom program.
