McDONALD'S CORPORATION ISSUES STATEMENT

OAK BROOK, Ill., Feb. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- The following statement has been issued by, and is attributable to Richard G. Starmann, Senior Vice President, McDonald's Corporation (NYSE: MCD) in response to questions regarding the company's smoke-free test:
"At McDonald's, we care about all our customers. So, we are taking a careful look at this important issue. We know how special interest groups on both sides feel about it, but we want to find out how our smoking customers would feel if we asked them not to smoke during their visit to McDonald's. That's why we're conducting this test in a number of our restaurants. We feel this is something all public places should be concerned with."
