McDERMOTT SIGNS CONTRACT WITH ENSERCH FOR $46-MILLION OFFSHORE PROJECT

NEW ORLEANS, Oct. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- McDermott Inc. announced today that it has been awarded a $46-million contract with Enserch Exploration Partners, Ltd. for an offshore oil and gas development in the Gulf of Mexico.
Under the contract, the McDermott Marine Construction operating unit will install pipelines and a subsea production template and will fabricate and install the jacket and deck for a fixed platform.
The project will require a total of four pipelines. Two parallel 12- inch pipelines will cover a 54 mile route from a subsea production template in 2,200 feet of water to a fixed platform in 250 feet of water. Two shorter pipelines, one about seven miles and the other about two miles, will connect the fixed platform with existing pipelines in about 250 feet of water.
McDermott's Derrick Barge 28 will install the pipelines using conventional S-lay technology. The 1,400-ton deepwater production template and shallow-water processing facility will be installed by the Derrick Barge 50.
The jacket and deck for the shallow-water facility, a 250-foot fixed platform, will be fabricated at McDermott's fabrication yard near Amelia, La. The deck is expected to weigh about 2,300 tons.
McDermott expects to complete the project by early 1995.
