McDERMOTT ANNOUNCES NEW DIRECTORS

 NEW ORLEANS, June 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Robert E. Howson, chairman of the board and chief executive officer of McDermott International, Inc., (NYSE: MDR) announced today the election of Theodore H. Black, John N. Turner, and Brock A. Hattox as directors of the company.
 Black is the chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Ingersoll-Rand Company. Turner is a partner in the Toronto law firm of Miller Thomson. Hattox is senior vice president and chief financial officer of McDermott.
 Howson also announced that John P. Eckert and James E. Cunningham will retire from the board later this year. Eckert will retire effective Oct. 1, when he retires from the company, and Cunningham will retire on Aug. 10, when his current term on the board expires.
 Black, 64, joined Ingersoll-Rand in 1957 as an application engineer and was named a vice president in 1972. In 1986, he became president and chief executive officer of Dresser-Rand, a joint venture of Ingersoll-Rand and Dresser Industries. He was named chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Ingersoll-Rand in 1988. Black is a graduate of the US Naval Academy where he earned a bachelor of science degree in engineering.
 Turner, 64, won election to Canada's House of Commons in 1962, and held various positions in Canadian government, including minister of justice and attorney general. In June of 1984, he was elected leader of Canada's Liberal Party, and he served as prime minister of Canada from June through September, 1984. He remained the leader of the Liberal Party until 1990, when he joined Miller Thomson. Turner holds a bachelor of arts in political science from the University of British Columbia and degrees from Oxford University.
 Hattox, 45, came to McDermott from the Eaton Corporation in 1991. Hattox joined Eaton in 1980 and was named vice president and controller in 1983. In 1987, Hattox was named vice president, controller and planning, a position he held until he joined McDermott. He holds a bachelor of science in civil engineering from the University of Mississippi and a master of business administration from Harvard University.
 McDermott International, Inc., is a leading worldwide energy services company. The company and its subsidiaries manufacture steam-generating equipment, environmental equipment, and defense and aerospace products. They also provide engineering and construction services for industrial and utility facilities onshore, and to the oil and gas industry offshore.
