McAfee reveals new Entercept features.
New features of the Entercept host intrusion prevention solution from McAfee Inc (NYSE:MFE), an intrusion prevention and security risk management company, have been revealed.
The solution is now said to offer the ability to control the use of USB storage devices, enabling organisations to stop malware propagation and theft of internal data, reducing the risk of loss of intellectual property and other critical data. USB ports provide an entry point for threats and USB-based attacks are understood to be on the increase and can result in high profile data theft. The enhanced Entercept solution is reported to block such attacks, offering protection of availability, confidentiality and integrity of data, applications and other critical assets.
Companies are said to be seeking ways to lock down corporate information and those in financial, healthcare and pharmaceutical industries are believed to be under the most pressure to protect company and customer data due to compliance with regulations.
McAfee's existing customers can obtain the new software under the terms of their maintenance agreement. No pricing information was given.
