Mazda adds Demio to 'Web Tune Factory' for customized car.

TOKYO, April 3 Kyodo

Mazda Motor Corp. said Thursday it has added the Mazda Demio to its ''Web Tune Factory'' site which allows customers to order their own customized car via the Internet.

Based on 10 model types -- four types for 1300 cc and six types for 1500 cc -- the new Mazda Demio Web Tune Factory enables customers to select body colors and options including factory-installed and dealer options, and conduct a simulation on the Internet to view their Web-tuned Demio on display, Mazda said.

In addition, site users can receive an estimate, schedule an appointment with a sales representative or place an order.

After reaching a decision, customers visit a Mazda dealer to complete the paperwork, including contract authorization, registration and delivery appointment.

The dealer then forwards the customer's order to Mazda for production.

The automaker said its Web Tune Factory was the first Web site in Japan to offer a build-to-order service on the Internet when it was launched in February 2001. Currently, the Web-Tuned Roadster is available on the site.
