May traffic figures released for Midwest Airlines and Midwest Connect.


Midwest Air Group Inc has reported traffic figures for May 2008 for its subsidiaries Midwest Airlines and Midwest Connect.

Midwest Airlines' passenger traffic decreased by 11.2% in May while its scheduled capacity was down 11.6%. The load factor improved slightly year-on-year, from 80.7% to 81.1%.

For Midwest Connect, passenger traffic grew 55.8% compared to May 2007. The airline's capacity was increased by 57.8% over the same period. This resulted in the load factor dropping from 71.7% to 70.8%.

Midwest Air Group's combined figures show a 5.2% fall in passenger traffic and a 4.7% decrease in scheduled capacity. The overall load factor stood at 79.4% for May, which is a decline of 0.5 percentage points compared with 79.9% in May last year.

The group operated a total of 8,654 flights in May 2008, down 13.1% from 9,955 in the same month a year ago.
