May's day at the seaside.

MISS Emma May cashed in on a steep drop in grade by winning division one of the totesport 0800 221 221 Maiden Fillies' Stakes at Yarmouth.

David Elsworth's filly had been highly tried in such prestigious events as the Albany Stakes and May Hill Stakes and put her seven races of experience to good use when scoring at odds of 8-1.

She careered away from Siyabona in the final furlong to win by three lengths.

"She has missed a few times but we always thought a bit of her and she has had a few fancy entries," said Elsworth.

"She is a very well-bred filly, which gives us optimism that she will make up into a nice enough three-year-old."
