The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward C Mattox of Aberdeen. She is the granddaughter of Eva Lee Henley C.E Henley, Azalene B. Mattox, and the late Quinn F. Mattox, all of Aberdeen.
The groom is the son of Charlotte W. Powell of Birmingham, Alabama and the late Johnny Powell. He is the grandson of Margaret C Waddy and the late J. Vemon Waddy of Birmingham, Alabama and the late Herschell T and Omblene H. Powell of Hollandale.
Rev. Truman Thompson officiated the double-ring ceremony. The wedding director was Mrs. Kathy Box. Pianist was Mrs. Brenda Stone, and organist was Mrs. Laura Earnest.
Escorted down the aisle by her father, the bride wore a Mori Lee gown of ivory taffeta. The strapless gown featured a demi-sweetheart neckline and was accented by silver embroidery and hand beading. The natural waistline was encircled by a ruched cummerbund The full, gathered skirt was decorated with appliques of silver embroidery and hand beading that extended down the semi cathedral-length train. Her ivory, angel cut illusion veil fell to her fingertips and was accented by satin cording. She carried a hand-tied bouquet of white hydrangeas, roses, and tulips adorned with a light blue Swarovski crystal. Accenting the bouquet was a personalized silver cap handmade by the bride's aunt The bride carried a lace handkerchief that belonged to her great-grandmother. In her shoe was a sixpence given to her by her grandmother.
The sanctuary was decorated with blue hydrangeas, white and green alstroemeria, green roses, carnations, dianthus, baby's breath, and peacock feathers.
Claire Lynn Mattox, sister of the bride, served as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Kate Keller Cotton, Brittany Hart Russell, Shauna Little Clark, Sara Elizabeth Harrington, and Kristie Summerford Coker. The attendants wore strapless satin floor-length A-line gowns in horizon blue and carried bouquets of blue hydrangeas, green roses, and green carnations. Anna Kate Bowen served as the bride's proxy and program attendant.
Brooks Waddy Powell, brother of the groom, served as best man. Groomsmen were brother of the bride, Benjamin Edward Mattox; Richard Todd Harcrow; Craig Allan Giesbrecht; Christopher Lee Wright; and William Daniel Cotton Jr. Ushers were Christopher Michael Cooper, Gary Stephen Hall, and Jack Eugene Larmour. Candles were lit by cousins of the bride Clarence Edward Henley III and Blake Thomas Henley.
Following the ceremony, the bride's parents hosted a reception at the Aberdeen Country Club. Guests were entertained by live music The Cottage Tea Room of Aberdeen catered the event Photographers were Shelby Daniels and Jeff Walker of tupelopixcom.
On the eve of the wedding the groom's mother hosted a rehearsal dinner at the Best Western Inn of Aberdeen. On the day of the wedding, a bridal brunch was given by aunts of the bride.
After a honeymoon to Ocho Rios, Jamaica, the couple is at home in Hamilton.
