Matthew Norman Column: America's Cup yacht sinks.
Byline: Matthew Norman
FANS of yachting will be saddened by news that a boat built at a
cost of pounds 3million for the America's Cup took four minutes to
sink after hitting mud off the Californian coast. Since its skipper
Dennis Connor is too experienced a sailor - a four times America's
Cup winner, no less - to make such a basic error by accident, it's
obvious what his game is. So perhaps this is the time to remind him that
if he wants to qualify for the command a British warship, he'll
have to go naval college first like anyone else.
