TOP tier golf can be cut throat - but every so often it shows its heart.
What a storybook week it was for Matt Southgate at the Irish Open.
Last ye 27-year-(left) bat physical an me to te can Ma diagnose Last year, the 27-year-old (left) battled the physical and mental trauma of testicular cancer.
Matt was diagnosed in July and underwent surgery the week of the Open Championship.
He recovered in time to compete at qualifying school in October, but had to go through all the stages to attain his card.
He was on the reserve list heading to the K Club and only gained entry to the tournament on Wednesday, but he finished the week with a fourth place finish and a cash windfall of [euro]200,000.
He also secured his card for 2017.
