Educators' Professional Development/McGraw-Hill Education,, Internet, $499 for 10 instruction units (40 hours total)

An online professional development program for kindergarten through pre-algebra math teachers has been launched to complement EPD/McGraw-Hill's Mathematics YES Onsite training program. The training can be used alone or in conjunction with the onsite component, and both online and onsite training are eligible for post-graduate professional credit.

Foundation for the online training is the IMPACT model, which includes the use of video showing exemplary teachers modeling real concepts in real classroom situations. Other features include Web-based activities that enable teachers to interact with the video lessons, embedded assessment designed to assist learning, progress reports and an online educators forum. The program avoids text-heavy coursework.

In other McGraw-Hill news, a partnership with USA Today Education will incorporate graphics and articles from the newspaper as unit openers in several best-selling math textbooks.
