Materials Engineering Research Laboratory.

Materials Engineering Research Laboratory, Hertford, England installed a major new test facility for the multi-axial testing of elastomeric and structural composite components and test pieces. The test facility, built by MTS Systems of Minneapolis, MN, will enable more sophisticated evaluations to be made of the effects of combined modes of loading on polymeric materials, especially elastomers, structural adhesives and structural composites. The facility includes a rotary actuator and two linear actuators. MERL and MTS also collaborated to develop new machine control software for fracture mechanics tests of elastomers.
