Masterclass to showcase best of Flintshire.

FLINTSHIRE'S chefs are being invited to a summer masterclass that will showcase local produce and boost culinary skills.

The event, hosted by top chef Brian Mellor at Harthill Cookery School, Chester, will focus on menu planning and recipe ideas.

It's being organised by the Taste of Flintshire (TOF) project with a view to increasing the uptake of local food.

Mr Mellor, former head chef at the BBC, hosted a TOF spring masterclass earlier this year.

Project organiser Jane Clough said: "That was a huge success and the chefs got a lot out of it.

"As well as practical workshops and demonstrations, there will be a visit to a market garden, and chefs will be shown where to source local, seasonal produce."

The summer masterclass is on Monday, June 21.

All the fruit and veg will be supplied by Phil Handley of Mostyn Kitchen Gardens.

Clive Swan from Swan's Farm Shop, Treuddyn, is providing fresh meat for cooking and a butchery demonstration.

He will be showcasing cuts of Welsh Beef, and pork from pedigree Welsh Pigs reared at his 200-acre Ffrith Farm.
