Mast fears.

Plans for a 40ft mobile phone mast near homes in Gateshead have sparked an outcry.

O2 has applied to put the mast on the west side of Durham Road, near Cromer Avenue, Low Fell, but local councillors believe it is too close to houses and would have an impact on the environment.

A similar application by 02 in the same location was rejected in August.

Chowdene councillor John McElroy has launched a petition against the proposal and is urging people to contact him on (0191) 477 2844.
