HAFIZABAD -- The villagers of Kalairwala (Gajar Gola) today strongly protested against the negligence of GEPCO officials which caused the life of another young man in the village and demanded action against the concerned officials and payment of adequate compensation to the dependants of the deceased.
According to villagers, the overhead high voltage cables were hanging quite low in the village which caused day to day incidents. They said that Muhammad Arslan son of Bashir Ahmad Cheema was on way to a nearby field when he inadvertently touched the hanging overhead cable as a result of which he received serious shocks and died before any medical aid could be made available to him. A few days ago, a young man Jamshaid Ahmad son of Muhammad Mansha was electrocuted in similar manner. They have called upon the GEPCO authorities to raise the level of overhead cables to prevent recurrence of such fatal incidents.
Meanwhile, serious rift between MPA Malik Fayyaz Ahmad Awan and father of State Minister Saira Afzal Tarar came to surface as Malik Fayyaz Ahmad Awan along with Councilors took out a rally in the city to show his strength in the municipality Hafizabad.
Mian Afzal Hussain Tarar has nominated Ex-MPA Haji Jamshaid Abbas Thaheem while Malik Fayyaz Ahmad Awan has nominated his nephew Malik Gul Nawaz Phool Awan for the slot of chairmanship of the MC Hafizabad. Both groups claimed the support of equal number of councilors.
However, the PML-N workers regretted that Afzal Tarar wanted to capture the slots of chairmanship of all municipalities by nominating his favorites.
They further said that Afzal Tarar also wanted to become himself as Chairman District Council. They said that the workers should be elected instead of favourites. Mian Afzal Tarar who is president of District PML-N has nominated Ex-MPA Haji Jamshaid Abbas Thaheem while Malik Fayyaz Ahmad Awan has desired to nominate his nephew Malik Gul Nawaz Phool Awan for the slot of chairmanship of MC Hafizabad.
According to insiders Malik Fayyaz Ahmad Awan has also mustered the support of PML-N MPA Asad Ullah Arain in this respect. According to local analysts if the rift cropped up between the two factions of the PML-N was not defused, the party would lose majority of the old PML-N workers/electorates from the city during the next general election.
