Marzouki focuses on action of Provisional Judicial Authority.

CARTHAGE (TAP) - The action of the Provisional Judicial Authority since its creation and difficulties it encounters were under focus as Caretaker President Moncef Marzouki met, on Wednesday, with its members, the Presidency of the Republic said in a press release.

Marzouki urged the former to see to the smooth running of the body to guarantee the rights of defendants and judges.

He also exhorted them to help with the last steps towards the end of transition and reiterated his commitment to spare no effort to figure out practical solutions for these issues, in conformity with the law.

For his part, President of the Authority Brahim Mejri cited work commitments of the structure's members among the outstanding difficulties.

No premises were made available for the authority and the latter was unable to manage the budget allocated to it, he elaborated.

Mejri said the provisional authority managed to work out staff transfers, examine requests for waiving immunity of some judges and refer others to the disciplinary board notwithstanding obstacles.

In this vein, he expressed hope that the authority's working conditions will improve under the new cabinet.
