Mary Louise Burger receives Patty Smith Hill Award.
Burger is Professor Emerita. Northeastern Illinois University, and an internationally known lecturer, writer, and educational consultant. She has shown leadership at all levels within ACEI, serving as President of the Illinois Branch. President and Vice President of the ACEI Executive Board, Chair of numerous committees, and a presenter at ACEI Annual International Conferences; she also was a recipient of the 1989 Outstanding Member Service Award.
Burger's professional involvement includes listings in Who's Who, International Who's Who in Community Service, and Who's Who in Child Development Professionals, Vol. 1. Her scholarly and creative works include Present and Future Concerns for Children, articles in Childhood Education, public service announcements, and workshops.
"Dr. Burger has selflessly given of her talents and time to create a better world for children," her colleague Charles Godwin said.
"She has exerted her positive influence on behalf of children through her publications, her service to NCATE accreditation boards, her many papers and workshop presentations, her nearly 20 years of advising the Northeastern Illinois Student Branch of ACEI, and through her continuing service as Co-chair of the ACEI Heritage Committee."
