Martyred soldier laid to rest with military honours.

LARKANA -- A martyred soldier of Gayari Sector incident Shaheed Lance Naik Aftab Ali Samo, son of Noor Mohammad Samo, was laid to rest with full military honours at his ancestral graveyard in village Nihal Ji Miyani near Beero Chandio Town of Larkana taluka, Larkana district late Thursday night.

Shaheed Lance Naik Aftab along with 135 persons including 124 army soldiers and 11 civilians had come under a huge avalanche in Gayari Sector near Skardu a year ago. His body was found during protracted searches.

Shaheed Lance Naik Aftab was about 30. He is survived by two daughters and one son, and a widow.

The funeral of Shaheed Lance Naik Aftab Ali Samo was attended by Brig. Shoaib Ahmed, Lt. Col. Abid, Additional Deputy Commissioner-II Larkana Sikandar Ali Chandio, Noor Muhammad Samo father of martyred Lance Naik Aftab Ali Samo, other military, and civil administration officials and relatives.

A large number of people belonging to all walks of life were also present on the occasion. The funeral prayers were held at Eidgah Nazar Mohallah, Larkana.

Brig. Shoaib Ahmed also laid wreaths on behalf of President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari, Chief of the Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani and Corps Commander Sindh, on his grave.

Lt. Col. Abid Zahid laid wreaths on behalf of GOC Pano Akil Garrison on his grave.

A smartly-turned-out contingent of Pakistan Army jawans presented the guard of honour and paid last respects to the martyred Lance Naik Aftab Ali Samo after his burial.

Lt. Col. Abid, representing the Pano Akil Garrison, unfurled the national flag on the grave of Shaheed Lance Naik Aftab Ali Samo.

Brig. Shoaib Ahmed said the nation is proud of its martyrs. He said the army in general and his unit in particular feels honoured over the martyrdom of Shaheed Lance Naik Aftab Ali Samo. His martyrdom has infused a new life in the troops as well as in the entire nation.

Shaheed Lance Naik Aftab's father Noor Muhammad Samoo said it was his desire to embrace martyrdom defending the motherland.

He saluted the Pakistan Army and wished them a total success in Jihad against terrorists and establishment of complete peace in the country.
