Martina Cole's Two Women take to the stage.
She is one of the UK's most popular authors, selling over eight million copies, now Martina Cole is still breaking new ground. She has just seen one of her novels turned into a play, for the first time.
In front a celebrity filled audience Two Women opened at the Theatre Royal Stratford East on Wednesday night.
Adapted from the novel, it is the story of Susan Dalston who ends up in prison for killing her husband. Cole admits Susan is one of her favourite characters: "If she was a real person, I would have liked her as a friend."
Former EastEnders actors Cathy Murphy and Marc Bannerman take on the lead roles.
Bannerman said: "Martina's an old friend of mine, I love her books, I'm really privileged to be a part of it."
Two Women is showing until March 20.
