Martin's flying start to title bid.
The accomplished Citroen Saxo driver thrilled the first round crowd at Blyton by battling through the field in his heats on the reshaped track before finishing second in a curtailed production class A final.
He was also embroiled in a fierce battle with John Haskin of Chop Gate in one of his heats.
"The problem was that we ran out of light by the time our final took place," explained Peters.
"As a result it was cut two laps. I finished eight 10ths of a second behind John Lyne and I was closing - if it had been over five laps I'm sure I'd have caught him.
"I didn't get off to a great start but I'd been making cracking starts all day.
"Because I was a late entry I had to start all my heats from the back of the grid but I still won twice.
"In my final heat I was in quite a battle with John Gaskin. There was quite a bit of clattering - it was quite brutal and it was more like a formula two stock car race at times and we got hauled in by the officials to explain ourselves.
"But otherwise it was a great day and I'm second in the championship so it was a fantastic start for me."
Gaskin only made it to the E final but won it tyen finished second in both the D and C finals to progress to the B final. However mechanical problems prevented him from taking his place in that race.
The next round is at Pembrey in June.
